This Privacy Policy explains how the nextup mobile application ("nextup," "the app," "we," "us") collects, uses, and protects your information. nextup is operated by Cheyenne Fakouri ("the operator"). By creating an account and using nextup, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Who we are

nextup is a multi-sport pickup-game scheduling app that helps people organize and join recurring and one-off games with friends and groups. The app is operated by Cheyenne Fakouri as an individual. For any privacy questions or requests, contact us at nextup.lfm@gmail.com.

2. Information we collect

We collect the following categories of information so the app can function:

Account & identity	Email address, username, display name, password (stored securely by our authentication provider), date of birth, and, where provided, name details.	To create and secure your account, verify you meet the minimum age, and identify you to people you play with.
Profile information	Profile photo, bio, primary sport, gender, pronouns, and optional height and weight.	To build your public player profile that other users can view.
Location	City/region you set on your profile, locations of games you create, and—only when you choose to check in to a game—your device's precise location at that moment.	To show games near you, set game venues, and verify attendance at a game's venue (check-in). Precise location is used only at the moment you tap to check in and is not tracked in the background.
Content you create	Messages you send in direct, group, game, and series chats; games and recurring series you create; personal notes; and any reports you submit.	To deliver your messages, run games, and let you report content or users.
Social connections	Friends, friend groups, game participation, and users you have blocked.	To power the social features of the app—group chats, invitations, and your network of players.
Device & technical	Push notification token, app version, device platform and model.	To deliver notifications and diagnose problems you report.
Attendance & reliability	Game check-in records (including check-in location and computed distance from the venue) and reliability indicators derived from attendance.	To support reliability features that help hosts and players know who reliably shows up.

3. How we use your information

To provide and operate the app's core features: scheduling games, joining games, messaging, and managing groups.
To show you relevant games (near you or within your network) and surface invitations and activity.
To send you notifications you've enabled (game reminders, invitations, messages, friend requests, and game changes).
To verify attendance through optional check-in and to maintain reliability features.
To keep the app safe—operating blocking, reporting, and moderation features.
To respond to your support requests and bug reports.

4. User-generated content, blocking, and moderation

nextup lets users post content and message one another. We do not tolerate objectionable content or abusive behavior. The app provides tools to:

Report content or users you find objectionable.
Block users, which removes them from your experience and prevents interaction.

We review reports and act on objectionable content and abusive users—including removing content and removing offending users—within a reasonable time. To report a concern directly, contact nextup.lfm@gmail.com.

5. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as follows:

With other users: Your profile, the games you create or join, and your messages are visible to the users those features are intended for (for example, other participants in a game, members of a group chat, or people you message).
With service providers who process data on our behalf so the app can work:
- Supabase — database, authentication, and storage hosting.
- Expo — push notification delivery.
- Google — location autocomplete (Google Places) and Android push delivery (Firebase Cloud Messaging).
For legal reasons: if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of users or the operator.

6. Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal information within a reasonable period, except where we must retain certain data to comply with legal obligations or resolve disputes. Some content you shared with others (for example, messages in a group) may remain visible to those recipients.

7. Your rights and choices

Access and correction: You can view and edit your profile information in the app at any time.
Deletion: You can request deletion of your account and associated personal data by contacting nextup.lfm@gmail.com.
Notifications: You can control which notifications you receive in the app's settings, and disable them entirely in your device settings.
Location: Precise location is requested only when you check in to a game. You can deny or revoke this permission in your device settings; check-in will fall back to a manual option.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA, including the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your data. To exercise any of these, contact us at the email above.

8. Children's privacy

nextup is not intended for children under 13, and you must be at least 13 years old to create an account. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If we learn that we have collected such information, we will delete it. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us information, contact nextup.lfm@gmail.com.

9. Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections and access controls at the database level. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work to protect your information and respond to issues promptly.

10. International users

nextup is operated from the United States. If you use the app from outside the United States, your information will be processed in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate, which may have different data-protection laws than your country.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Your continued use of nextup after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
